Abstract
Carex himalayensis P.Bhandari, Larridon & S.R.Zhang (Cyperaceae), a new species of ( clade), is described and illustrated from central Nepal and Sikkim in the Himalayas.Carex himalayensis C. filicina resembles in general morphology, but can be distinguished by its simple paniculate inflorescence, aristate to long‐mucronate pistillate scales, and ellipsoid‐obovoid perigynia with a 0.5–0.9 mm long, slightly curved beak. A detailed morphological description, key to distinguish it from allied species, illustrations, and photographs of key traits are provided to support its recognition.
