Selection, Identification and Collection of Plants for Analysis.
This short review aims to highlight the importance of checking the identification of plants that are going to be used in a natural product or medicinal plant research projects as well as checking that the accepted Latin scientific binomial for the species are used. Medicinal plants play an important part in the primary care of many people and are often overharvested and thus need to be conserved. This chapter provides a review of some of the international policies that support plant conservation. It suggests that authors consider how the identification and validation of the medicinal properties of plants can assist highlight the importance of biodiversity and thus the importance of plant conservation. Plants are important to the health of many communities and it is therefore important that information about these plants is correctly documented and researched.
