Abstract

Eupatorium hyssopifolium L. (Compositae: Eupatorieae:Eupatoriinae) is described and illustrated, and the speciesis provided with an expanded synonymy that includes typecitations, known types, and supplementary comments.Notes are provided for the species’ cultivation, propaga-tion, likely pests and diseases, and availability. The spe-cies’ long history of cultivation, from 1699, is noted,although it is apparently not now commercially availablein the United Kingdom. Selected illustrations of the spe-cies are cited, and statements of the species’ distribution,habitat and ecology, phenology, etymology, conservationstatus and vernacular names provided. Additional com-mentary is provided concerning the conservation statusand varying taxonomic concepts, as well as the presence ofhybrids, polyploidy and taxonomic concepts.
