Abstract
This study proposes typifications for several Bonamia names in accordance with the International Code of Nomenclature, clarifies species distribution, and provides morphological reassessments to stabilize the nomenclature of neotropical representatives of the genus. Through examination of type materials, historical literature, and specimens from major herbaria, we designate lectotypes and reassess long-debated synonymies, supporting the treatment of B. burchellii and B. tomentosa as conspecific with B. agrostopolis, for which we reaffirm the recognition of two varieties of the species, and B. peruviana as conspecific with B. kuhlmannii, as well as proposing additional new synonymies. Distribution updates are provided for Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Peru. Our results contribute to resolving nomenclatural ambiguities, ensuring stability in the application of names, and offering a taxonomic framework for future phylogenetic and floristic studies of Bonamia.
