Abstract
This paper summarises the taxa of Polygonaceae that have been found growing wild in Singapore. Eight species from three genera are included. Synonymies and typifications are provided. One new combination, Persicaria attenuata (R.Br.) Soják subsp. hallieri (Danser) I.M.Turner, is made. Three taxa of Persicaria (L.) Mill., P. attenuata subsp. hallieri, P. chinensis (L.) H.Gross var. ovalifolia (Meisn.) H.Hara and P. pubescens (Blume) H.Hara, are added to the list of plants found growing wild in Singapore. Persicaria attenuata subsp.hallieri and P. pubescens are considered to be naturalised. Persicaria chinensis var. ovalifolia has been found as a relict of cultivation and is considered casual in Singapore. Previous records of Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Delarbre as a wild plant in Singapore cannot be substantiated. All specimens so named seem to be Persicaria odorata (Lour.) Soják, but were collected from cultivation. Persicaria dichotoma (Blume) Masam. was last collected in 1927, so must now be considered to be extinct in Singapore.
