Abstract
The type variety of Aloe horombensis J.‐P. Castillon (Asphodelaceae) is poorly known. It is represented from a few specimens collected more than 80 years ago. Despite its attractive pink flowers, it is not common in cultivation which may be due to its rarity. It is described and illustrated here, with information about its habitat, phenology, cultivation and finally conservation status. An overview of genus Aloe and its position in the family the family Asphodelaceae are given.
