Taxonomic notes on Goodyera (Goodyerinae, Cranichideae, Orchidoideae, Orchidaceae) in China and an addition to orchid flora of Vietnam
Based on fieldwork and examination of fresh as well as preserved specimens, Goodyera bomiensis and G. wolongensis are reduced under the synonymy of G. brachystegia and G. serpens respectively. Goodyera serpens and G. marginata are reinstated as accepted species, and G. afzelii, previously thought to be restricted to Madagascar and...Liu, Yan Wen ; Zhou, Xiao Xu ; Schuiteman, André ; Kumar, Pankaj ; Hermans, Johan …

New combinations and a new name for including Nemum species in Bulbostylis (Abildgaardieae: Cyperaceae)
A recent study included the genus Nemum into Bulbostylis. The combinations made for Nemum spadiceum and Nemum megastachyum resulted in illegitimate names. Here, the epithet of the homotypic name Scirpus briziformis is used to make nomenclaturally correct combinations for both subspecies of Nemum spadiceum in Bulbostylis. Furthermore, Bulbostylis brunneoacuminata, nomen...Larridon, Isabel ; Goetghebeur, Paul ; Roalson, Eric

An Annotated Checklist to Vascular Flora of the Ica Region, Peru—with notes on endemic species, habitat, climate and agrobiodiversity.
The ephemeral and fragmented nature of plant communities in the desert region of Ica, Peru have contributed to the poor documentation of its flora. This study provides the first comprehensive checklist and analysis of the vascular plants and habitats of the region, based on over 1800 herbarium collections, site-specific vegetation...Hyperaridity, Tillandsia, Agrobiodiversity, Cacti, El Niño, Desert flora, Dry forest, Fog ecosystem, Monocots, Grasses, Habitat restoration, and Huarango

New combinations and a new name in Bletia (Bletiinae; Orchidaceae)
New combinations and names are proposed for species formerly placed in three genera of subtribe Bletiinae. Based on the latest phylogenetic analyses of the subtribe in which species of Basiphyllaea and Hexalectris were embedded among the species of Bletia, twelve new combinations and a new name are proposed in the...SOSA, VICTORIA ; CHASE, MARK W.

Acanthostachys calcicola (Bromeliaceae, Bromelioideae), a new species from a limestone outcrop in Tocantins State, Brazil
A new species of bromeliad, Acanthostachys calcicola, a third taxon for the genus, is here described. A. calcicola was discovered during field work in the limestone outcrops of south-eastern Tocantins, central Brazil. It is most similar to A. strobilacea, but differs from it in petal colour and length, and exserted... -

Atlas of leaf surface micromorphology in Aloe L. (Asphodelaceae) from the Horn of Africa region.
The confident identification to species rank of fragmentary and sterile plant material is often challenged by the absence of diagnostic characters, which are present in intact specimens, reproductive parts, and plants in habitat. Here, we consider leaf surface micromorphology for the identification of the genus Aloe in the Horn of... -

Nomenclatural and taxonomic notes on Carex lazarei nom. nov. (Cyperaceae).
Carex bulgarica (Domin) Lazare 1986 is a younger homonym of C. bulgarica Velen. 1889, the latter being validly published as an alternative name along with C. digitata var. bulgarica Velen. Therefore we publish here a replacement name, Carex lazarei, for the species previously called C. bulgarica by Lazare. New combinations in Agave (Asparagaceae): A. amica, A. nanchititlensis, and A. quilae.
Phylogenetic studies of Agave Linnaeus (1753: 323) and related genera (Asparagaceae, Agavoideae) thus far published were based either on molecular (Bogler & Simpson 1996; Bogler et al. 2006; Good-Ávila et al. 2006; Scheinvar et al. 2017) or on morphological data (Hernández-Sandoval 1995; Tambutti in Eguiarte et al. 2006). Synonymies in Ananas (Bromeliaceae).
To clarify the last pineapple classification, which only recognizes the tetraploid crownless A. macrodontes and the diploid A. comosus, with three cultivated and two wild botanical varieties, we re-establish A. comosus var. microstachys and revise ancient synonymies, underlining misinterpretations and distinguishing horticultural names from botanical names whenever possible.Coppens d'Eeckenbrugge, Geo ; Govaerts, Rafaël
