A revision of Gomphostemma (Lamiaceae).
The genus Wall. ex Benth. is revised. Thirty-one species are recognised with three new species described: Bongch. from north-eastern Thailand, southern Laos and central Vietnam, Bongch. and Bongch. from northern Myanmar. Thirty names are lectotypified. A key to species, distribution maps and conservation categories for all species are provided.Conservation, Lamioideae, Gomphostemma, Southeast Asia, Revisions, and Taxonomy

Does oxygen affect ageing mechanisms of Pinus densiflora seeds? A matter of cytoplasmic physical state.
During desiccation, the cytoplasm of orthodox seeds solidifies into an intracellular glass with highly restricted diffusion and molecular mobility. Temperature and water content govern seed ageing rates, while oxygen (O2) can promote deteriorative reactions. However, whether the cytoplasmic physical state affects involvement of O2 in seed ageing remains unresolved. We... -

Taxonomic revision of Saxicolella (Podostemaceae), African waterfall plants highly threatened by Hydro-Electric projects.
Species of the genus Engl. (Podostemaceae) are African rheophytes, restricted to rapids and waterfalls as are all members of the family. Previously, was shown to be polyphyletic with two separate clades. The name Engl. was recently resurrected for one clade that is sister to the American genera (Tul.) Wedd., Michx.... -

A synopsis of Neotropical Dichapetalaceae.
The Neotropical Dichapetalaceae was last monographed by Prance (1972). Since then twenty-nine new species have been described and the known geographic distribution of many species has been much extended. The 1972 treatment is updated here with summary descriptions of all Neotropical species and keys for their identification. New information on...Range extensions, Dichapetalum, Conservation, Stephanopodium, Tapura, and Lectotypification

Using an Asteraceae checklist to understand collection history, species density and conservation implications: a case study in the state of Alagoas, Northeastern Brazil.
Alagoas is a Brazilian state contained in the area of two large and important phytogeographic domains: Atlantic Forest and Caatinga. Although the presence of these domains possibly indicates a considerable biodiversity, floristic studies in the state are still scarce, especially for the family Asteraceae. In this sense, we developed a... -

A monograph of the African and Madagascan species of Cyperus sect. Incurvi (Cyperaceae).
sect. (Cyperaceae) contains 31 species worldwide, with important continental radiations in Australasia, Tropical Africa and Madagascar, and the Neotropics. Here, a monograph of the African and Madagascan species of sect. is presented, including descriptions, illustrations, synonymy, notes on habitat and ecology, geographic distribution ranges and conservation assessments. Our results identify...Griffiths, Megan ; Ralimanana, Hélène ; Rakotonasolo, Franck ; Larridon, Isabel

What Do the First 597 Global Fungal Red List Assessments Tell Us about the Threat Status of Fungi?
Fungal species are not immune to the threats facing animals and plants and are thus also prone to extinction. Yet, until 2015, fungi were nearly absent on the IUCN Red List. Recent efforts to identify fungal species under threat have significantly increased the number of published fungal assessments. The 597...Mueller, Gregory M. ; Cunha, Kelmer Martins ; May, Tom W. ; Allen, Jessica L. ; Westrip, James R. S. …

Specimen and sample metadata standards for biodiversity genomics: a proposal from the Darwin Tree of Life project.
The vision of the is to complete reference genomes for all of the planet’s ~2M described eukaryotic species in the coming decade. To contribute to this global endeavour, the (DToL ) was launched in 2019 with the aim of generating complete genomes for the ~70k described eukaryotic species that can... -

Tribe Shoreae (Dipterocarpaceae subfamily Dipterocarpoideae) Finally Dissected.
The dipterocarp tribe Shoreae, perhaps more than any other members of this elegant family of often giant emergent trees, is familiar to all who visit the once ubiquitous lowland forests of tropical Asia. Timbers of the genus comprised the bulk of hardwood traded on international markets for thirty years, since...Ashton, P. S. ; Heckenhauer, J.
